BVA Health Tests and Microchipping

Anyone thinking about having their Wheaten either Hip Scored or Eye Tested under the BVA's Canine Health Scheme should be aware that:
'As from January 1st 2010 Canine Health Scheme certificates will only be issued if your dog has been permanently identified (microchip or tattoo).  The permanent identification will be verified before the eye or radiography examination takes place.  So from this date identification and registration documents are both required for Canine Health Scheme certification'.

Grooming Workshop

The Worst Thing was Leaving!

32 students varying from 'just looking' or expectant puppy owners to professional groomers attended the Grooming Workshop in Surrey on February 20th.

The purpose of the day was to install confidence in owners to 'give it a go' in basic grooming and trimming the Wheaten way! A PowerPoint talk and live demonstration was followed by supervised 'hands-on' trimming.

The day came to an end with a Grand Parade where everyone showed off their efforts.  The feedback forms graded the day as 'Excellent' and one comment in response to the question 'What was the worst thing about today'? was 'Leaving'!!

Thanks must go to the helpers who worked their socks off both as 'Grooming Buddies' and in the kitchen.

There are more Grooming Workshops being planned later in the year, details to follow.

Sponsored Walk for SCWTC OF GB Rescue Fund

On September 20th, SCWTC member Chris Satherley walked 13 miles with his Wheatens along the Tissington Trail in Derbyshire.  The object of the walk was to raise money for the Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier Club of GB Rescue Fund.

Thanks to Chris's efforts and those who generously sponsored him, over £950 has been raised.

The Club's rescue fund is in place to help pay for any expenses (eg. kennelling, fostering, vets, transport etc.) that may be incurred when trying to re-home a Wheaten.

Support Chris's Fund Raising Effort
You can help Chris reach his target of £1,000 by donating any amount you can afford to support this very important aspect of the Club's work.

It's very easy to do - just click the PayPal Donate button below and enter the amount you would like to send to Chris. You don't have to have a PayPal account to donate; the PayPal page offers the option of using a credit or debit card if you prefer.
